Last night the committee approved a proposal for the formation of a Wheelers development team. We want to provide support and infrastructure to club members who want to improve their racing. As a club in 2014 we often had the numbers in races, but didnt always race in the best way. This is new territory for the club so were still working out details, but we have a broad outline for the the next season. Ill be acting as a team manager / co-ordinator at the begining. We want to provide a light touch of organisation and planning to the season, along with a bit of advice. Were looking for 6 2nd catergory and aspiring 3rd category and junior riders to ride in the team. The team will target all of the National B (E,1,2,3) races in the region plus a further calendar of National B events in other regions. These riders will be supported by the club at these events (were still working out the level of support). The team is an inclusive part of the club - so if youre not a team member but at the same race youll be asked to get involved too. As a member of the team in return for your commitment you can expect support at key races, an organised approach to racing at events and hopefully development as a rider. Regional Events A lot of our racing members cant make that kind of commitment so for 3rd and 4th category riders in the club were going to decide on a calendar of events (about 1 a month) for the 2015 season that will have an appointed road captain. The role of the road captain is to help the club riders come up with a plan before events and discuss the success of the plan afterwards. It will be an informal discussion before and after races. We need experienced riders that are willing to be road captains at these events (please email me if interested). Ill organise an afternoon / evening in early December to firm up the 3/4 races through the 2015 season and to generaly discuss plans for this. My email for any team matters is jnye131+team@gmail.
