Last night was a marathon Board Meeting. We were there till 10:15pm. Here is my speech. Board Notes 03-04-2014 Good evening, my name is Albert Trudel, I am the President of VVTA. President Vargas, School board members, Superintendent Lopez, colleagues, and community members, I am honored to be speaking with you tonight on behalf of Val Verde Teachers Association. I would like to begin by thanking my negotiations team that has worked hard these past 18 months to clean up language in the contract, and add language to clear up past and future misunderstandings. They have negotiated a well-deserved raise and increase in the benefits cap. As you have heard, we now have a signed Tentative Agreement that will go to ratification of the membership in the next couple of weeks. They have done an amazing job and our hope is that it will be ratified on the 26th of this month by the membership and quickly after that by the School Board. We are again visiting with the School Board Members, please look forward to being contacted by one of our Exec. Board Members. On the topic of Local Control Funding Formula and the Local Control Accountability Plan. I am glad the district is being transparent in the creation and editing of the LCAP. This is now one of the most important documents in our district. It will guide how we spend the money for the next three years. VVTA looks forward to continual involvement in this process.
