Last night was not a good night for me in terms of getting some zeds in...got woken up numerous times as follows: 1) Husband had a coughing fit so he got up and went downstairs to get a drink...went back to sleep but then...2) Husband had his drink but fell asleep in the armchair still clutching the (empty) mug...which he dropped...and which fell on the floor breaking off the handle and making a noise which woke me up...fell back to sleep but then...3) Husband blunders back upstairs and flops back into bed with all the grace of a small rhinoceros...then decides to tell me all about his mug-breaking incident...then gets his phone and goes online...I go back to sleep but then...4) Husband wakes me up all excited to tell me that hes had another bid on the car hes selling on eBay and that 3452908656 people are watching the listing...I return to the Land of Nod but then...5) Number 2 son gets up at 5am to got to work (poor lad)...back to snoozing for me...but then...6) Husband is hot so opens bedroom window...all is well as regards my beauty sleep until...7) at the unearthly hour of 6:00am was woken up by a cacophony of female voices squawking and squealing...sounded like drunken tarts falling out of a nightclub...blearily get out of bed and look out of window...nothing to see...no nightclub had been built in our street overnight and no drunken tarts visible...decided to ignore the noise and go back to sleepy-byes...did so until noise got worse and as it was by then 7:00am decided to give sleeping up as a bad job and get up...husband goes to bathroom. Noise seems louder so he opens the bathroom window...and sees half a dozen girls aged around 12 sitting on the giant trampoline thing in next doors garden squawking and squealing...so he opened the window and pointed out the error of their ways in a way that he considered friendly and nurturing but which was actually really rather grumpy and rightly so...bloody knackered for the day now :(
