Last nights an adventure of some sort. After a motivating day at work, I took a bus to the dental clinic at the back of Mind Museum (my first time to commute there and my friends know how I suck at directions) and had my cephalometric x-ray for my braces. My dentist whos based somewhere else asked me to have this clinic take pictures of my teeth in 2R, so I did, and man - it was far from the breeziness of having your ID pic taken and was more like the pain of wearing braces the first time! Their staff pried open my mouth with two giant tongs (which she asked me to hold myself as she took the photos) and a spatula the size of a shovel. When I got the x-ray, along with another one, I was reminded of the Predator - skull, spine, long and pointed bone at the chin, and all teeth protruding forward with the front ones forming like a beak. Then I dropped by a great friends place who celebrated his 10th birthday. Army kid, English-speaking, and World War 2 junkie. I was glad he liked my gift - Martyn Whittocks A Brief History of the Third Reich. Ive really grown close to his Christian family, the warm parents and their uber-energetic kids. Something feels deeply spiritual when the network of your family extends its branches. Simple adventures? Theres always something special about them.
