Last nights game saw a total of 13 players attend our weekly game. It was also the week where everyone took note and arrived early for the game, which was brilliant as it allowed the game to start on time, run as normal and finish a little early. It made my job far easier and thanks to you all for that and long may it continue. The game saw, for almost the first time ever, the final table reached before the dinner break. This was down to the fact that there were early eliminations for Josh Bell, Eugenia Phkhakadze, Lambros Paphitis, Will Price and Darran Medhurst. After dinner the final table was in full swing. Glenn Beere had been winning and losing some large pots all night long and this saw his stack going from big to small on several occasions. However when he needed a card to survive he caught it on several occasions. The other player having a good run and getting some big hands was Jay Tank, who also had amassed a rather large stack. Stelios Paphitis was the first player eliminated from the final table and he was quickly followed by his brother Stavros Paphitis who was involved in this weeks hand of the night (or call of the night as I shall call it). Unusually for Stav he had ran a bluff with the nut flush draw and went all in hoping Antonis Kollias would fold. However Antonis made an amazing call with pocket 5s which were ahead with just the one card to come. When the river card was a blank card the pocket 5s were the winner and Antonis got a rather large double up. This left the perplexed Stav with just a handful of chips left, which he lost a few hands later. Scott Schnape, who had a great run early on, saw the remainer of his chips disappear to take 6th place and was followed shortly by Richard Smith in 5th. Alec yet again had managed his short stack all night long and was still alive. These past few weeks he has been like Houdini pulling cards from the deck just when he needed them. After surviving a double up with Q4 which managed to make a full house his luck eventually ran out in 4th place, being taken out by Jay. This left us with a final three this week of Glenn, Jay and Antonis. Antonis was quickly dispatched in 3rd place, which was the second week in a row he had made the prize positions. The heads up battle between Jay and Glenn went on for what seemed like ages. It was a battle which swung one way and then the other. Eventually all the money went in and Glenn was ahead with A2 against QJ, when neither player hit anything Glenn was crowned this weeks champion. Congratulations this week go to Glenn on his victory. This win moves him temporarily (as he is in Greece next week) back into the top 5 season prize positions. Thanks all.
