Last photos of Lembert Road Allied War Cemetery Thessaloniki British Section. Interesting info you find in the booklet listing all the burials on the site. Whilst the graves are predominately from England, Scotland, Wales and Island you also find interesting graves o f members of the Maltese Labour Corps who were involved in construction works at the Salonika Front as the area was relatively undeveloped, graves of nurses such as British Sister Mary De Burgh Burt of the Scottish Womens Hospital which was located nearby at the time, Sergeant Frederick Benfield from Dunedin New Zealand Medical Corps, Captain Yellowglen of the Canadian Medical Army Corps and even Driver Louis Carr of Fall River Massachusetts USA. A truly multinational force. Over 1800 burials on site and didnt have time to go through all booklet. Need to go back. Theres a few more cemeteries in the region that I need to visit yet. Many ANZACS in the region but because they were part of British units no one has mapped how many were here and who remains buried here
