Last snowstorm update...some subtle tweaks to the snow forecast. Sleet has been mixing in with the snow across parts of Carolina between Eliz. city and the Outer Banks. This will limit the snow totals in these areas downward somewhat but after midnight it will change back to all snow and snow to beat the band. Most areas have between 3-4 inches currently with an additional 6-8 in most spots bringing totals between 9-12. Because the snow is so dry, it will accumulate at a rate of 1 of snow for every .07 of liquid water content. With an additional .5 to .6 of liquid water left in this storm as of this writing, that would yield the 6 1/2 to 8 additional inches for most spots within 35 miles of the coast. Here are the last totals before I hit the sack...I have fined tuned some to add some inland and take a bit away where there has been some sleet... Richmond 2-4” Williamsburg 4-7” Gloucester 4-7” Mathews County 5-8” Smithfield 6-8” Franklin 6-9” Wakefield 5-7” Newport News 7-10” Hampton 7-10” Seaford 7-9 Yorktown 7-9 Suffolk 7-9” Chesapeake 10-12” Norfolk 10-12” Portsmouth 9-11” Virginia Beach 11-13” Sandbridge 11-14” Accomack County -7-10” Northampton County 10-12” Edenton 8-9” Murfreesboro 4-7” Moyock 10-14” Elizabeth City 8-10” Corolla 8-12” Duck 6-10” Including plenty of sleet Kill Devil Hills 5-9” Including plenty of sleet Nags Head 5-9” Lots of sleet Hatteras 3-5” with plenty of sleet
