Last term our Year 12 Chemistry students competed in the Regional Titration Competition at the University of New England. Students competed in teams of three to complete a set of acid-base titrations to determine the unknown concentration of a weak acid. The team’s score depended on the accuracy of the work of its members. The team of Melwin Nelapati, Monica Lee and Ryan Kallmier came first on the day with another team, Olivia Peck, Marleyna Palin and Emily Hutton, placing 4th. Both of these teams will now compete at the National level later in the term. A commendable mention also to the team of Sam Ackerley, Laura Bolte and Michael Hingston, who scored 20th overall. The organiser of the competition from UNE., Katherine Harris, travelled to the school today to present medals and certificates to our winning teams.
