Last week I happen to be at the old jr. high school. (now called middle school) The staff was kind enough to let me wonder around and shoot some video. Not a lot had changed about the place. A new library a few more classrooms. The cafeteria still looked the same. They did take out the conveyer belt that you put your dirty tray on in the middle of the room. I spoke with the music teacher. This is her first year of teaching. I saw the gleam in her eye when I told her that a lot of the kids back in my day that took music at Mead went on to do music at Wichita High School East. I was surprised that the rope climb had been removed from the gym. It was coach Daniels & Steel that taught me how to climb a rope that make me 1 of only 2 guys that were able to climb a rope the first time in the Marines. The one thing I didnt remember was the arrows on the floor telling us which side of the hallway to walk on. Did we have or need those back in the day? I hope you enjoy.
