Last week a local PCSO posted letters through every door in my street, warning that it is an offence to play ball games in the road. Although he mentioned children could be cautioned, it was primarily in the interests of their safety. I emailed him back, that despite a 2 year old being hit, and nearly killed a couple of years ago, nothing had changed. I thought this was really good community policing. David street isnt exactly Knottinghill Gate, but one thing we are all blessed with, are large back gardens. Why would you let children, especially ones as young as 5, play in the street, unsupervised? If, or when the inevitable happens, AGAIN, I cant exactly go up to a grieving parent and say; I told you so., can I? Im not a nosey neighbour, or a busy body, Im just concerned. I havent got any children, and if I had, I would not wrap them in cotton wool either. I would, however, use a bit of common sense, purely to keep them safe. Its about time a lot of parents out there woke up, before its too late.
