Last week, a well-connected and highly irresponsible politico decided to spin a rather long yarn about ballot collection. The right wing online echo chamber has lost what few marbles it had left over said story, with mouthpieces from The Blaze to The Daily Caller screaming fraud and making baseless allegations against a man guilty of the great high sin of voting while Latino. Moreover, the local mainstream media, in a fit of collective amnesia, forgot everything they reported on HB2305 for an entire year, and with good ol KTAR leading the hysteria not to turn over your ballots to activists collecting them. You would think that our elected officials - like Helen Purcell and F. Ann Rodriguez - would do their damn jobs and tamp down the Chicken Little sky-is-falling routine from irresponsible fear mongering, especially from mainstream media sources. But we have Helen Purcell, who cant print a bookmark, never mind do her job without AzAN or ADP or the League of Women Voters or One Arizona demanding it be done. Folks, ballots get collected in Arizona. They are then carefully and painstakingly checked. This gives voters another avenue to exercise their rights and guarantees the integrity of your elections. Those are features of your democracy, not bugs. Any elections official who doesnt understand this and wont defend it until their last gasp on this mortal coil isnt fit to hold their office.
