Last week a young man came to my clinic in the afternoon telling - TopicsExpress

Last week a young man came to my clinic in the afternoon telling me he earnestly wanted to join DAP. He (1) holds a master degree from a well known university abroad, (2) masters 3 languages proficiently, (3) speaks well, (4) successful in his career doing 3 different jobs, (4) his family and friends are supportive of his move into opposition politic. I felt honoured coz he came to see me for my opinion; I treated the moment as patient seeks second opinion. So I used the medical model in explaining to patients regarding invasive procedure aka coronary angiogram [i.e. indications, risks involved, benefits, pitfalls, cost involved etc] to him. I shared with him everything I know, I did not withhold any vital information to him. After one hour of listening to my sharing and analysis, he instantly made up his mind - he decided he should not join DAP. He thanked me profusely for my honesty, sincerity and unbiased information sharing. Once a doctor, always a doctor; the principle is always do no harm. This is called translational medicine. [Google the words for the meaning.] You may disagree with my approach, after all often we agree to disagree.
