Last week, at the urging of the Memphis Chamber of Commerce, the city council voted to stop paying for health benefits for retired city employees. Because we make up the vast majority of city personal, this hugely impacts Fire and Police retirees as well as those injured in the line of duty and put off the job. They took the very people who spent a lifetime protecting the citizens and threw them under the bus because the Memphis Chamber wants the city to continue funding Chamber projects.
