Last week, someone was killed by maize at his workplace and today someone is killed by a boiler machine. While we agree that accidents happen, there is need to emphasize on safety at work. We cannot just let these incidents pass just like this. The industrialization of Bulawayo should not be an excuse for lack of safety at the workplace. I have not heard of any statement from ZCTU condemning the two incidents. Critical questions to be asked here are 1) are industries remitting to NSSA so that there is some compensation in instances like these 2) is there adequate protective clothing for the workers?
