Last week, the Legions Regional Office Action Review team was in Seattle visiting the VA Regional Office to gauge the accuracy of the disability claims filing process there. Politicos Morning Defense spoke with Verna Jones, the director of the Legions Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Division about the visit. What were hoping is to correct trends or patterns that are not advantageous to the veteran, Jones said. For us to be able to collect some data that tells us what our next step needs to be and to be able to tell the VA here are things that your regional office is having issue with and here is how you can fix them to better serve veterans. Theres been a lot of attention given to the fact that the American Legion challenged the VA on the quality of the review. We come out to do these quality review visits on a non adversarial basis, but we come out to report what we find, honestly and accurately. We have an honest and well intended goal and thats to make sure that the veterans are better off when we leave.
