Last week the wind was so brisk that I sometimes couldn’t blow - TopicsExpress

Last week the wind was so brisk that I sometimes couldn’t blow bubbles at all, just watch large clusters of brown leaves skitter across the intersection. They moved like the aerial shots I’ve see of vast herds of migrating wildebeests on PBS, sweeping majestically across the plains. The movement of the vehicles crossing with each green light kind of reminded me of that migration too, and yes, I kept looking for the little gimpy one that gets eaten by a crocodile. Today, the leaves stick stubbornly to the ground, wet and lumpy. On my last break a boy passed a pretty girl on the sidewalk, scuffing his sneakers in the wet leaves as he walked. Having passed, he turned to give her an appreciative look, and then continued on his way. The girl then turned to give him a second look before also continuing on her way. He then turned back again for one last look before turning the corner and disappearing. Amazing how much a look can say, but if no one catches it, is anything actually said? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I’m pretty sure one or both of them were later eaten by a crocodile anyway.
