Last week there was discussion about Piers Morgan who wrote a terrible article asking People of Colour in the United States to stop using the N-word because they are somewhat adding to their own racism. Anyway, he copped a huge backlash and so he should have for that offensive piece. It reminded me of the persistent and increasing use of the word jihad in its varied derivatives (jihadi, jihadist, etc) by non-Muslims (politicians, social commentators, activists, etc) and even by Muslims. The term is being used and abused to suit political agendas. They dont understand the nuances of the term and concept but merely shape the jihad narrative to a Western-based understanding of the word whilst removing its essence in the process. I also blame us for providing those convenient definitions just to suit their frame of reference. Their polluted additions dont help as they Westernise the concept, so they should refrain from using it in my honest opinion. I could be wrong, its just an observation.
