Last weekend my family and I celebrated Wess 67th birthday and our 34th anniversary -- without Wes this time. We deliberately planned a special family day doing the kind of things we would have done had he been with us -- pancake breakfast cooked by Angela and Chris, holiday bazaar with Andrea, shopping for a new kitchen stove with the 6 of us (that includes little Calvin), going out to eat, talking to Andy on the phone, and then watching Fiddler on the Roof, which was the movie Wes and I watched on our first date. What a match was made that night!! Seven months ago today Wes went to be with Jesus. We would really like time with him today to discuss some major events and to feel his arms around us. I like to think of him interceding for us today -- because we really need it. Yesterday Chris, the son-in-law who lives with me, was in a terrible accident resulting in bleeding and injuries to the brain. He is under sedation now and will probably be for several day before they can truly assess the extent of his injuries. Hes opened his eyes twice and has moved his arms and legs, trying hard to reach his tubes when they cut back the sedation. When Angela softly talks to him while he is agitated, he seems to respond to her voice. So we are in the wait and see stage of this new path we are walking, not a surprise to God. We can already see Gods hand in some of the situations surrounding the accident. We proclaim Gods sovereignty in all things. Thanks to everyone who has once again amazed us with much love and support.
