Last week’s posts talked about either being with Jesus or what happens in our lives when God makes an appearance. This week we are going to look at the other side of that coin, because we sometimes get a little wobbly in the knees when that happens. The Good News – So the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God! Luke 1:30 NET If Mary was startled and scared just by the angel showing up, imagine what she felt like when the angel told her “the rest of the story?” But in this scenario, Mary is minding her own business, doing what other teenage girls of her day would be doing, when God sends his angel. So what do we have? God surprising Zechariah while he was doing religious “stuff.” Then God surprising Mary in her everyday life. You almost want to say, “Hey! God, can you make up your mind?” But we’d probably get zapped by lightning. But this is just another example of God showing up and doing something when God “wants” it to happen. We get so comfortable in our schedule that we get frustrated when something does not go according to plan. We need to remember that God follows a different schedule than we do. And His schedule is more important than ours. We should all answer God like Mary did, “Yes, I am a servant of the Lord; let this happen to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38 NET We welcome you to worship with us this, or any Sunday morning at 10:30 A.M. We also have Bible study for all ages beginning at 9:00 A.M. and a much less formal time of worship on Sunday evenings at 6:00 P.M.
