Last year French archaeologists found traces of copper wire dating back 1,000 years, and came to the conclusion that their ancestors had a primitive telephone network. Not to be outdone by the French, English archaeologists dug down 2,000 feet and concluded that they found ancient fiber-optic cable from a digital communications network. A week later, an Israeli newspaper reported the following: “After digging down 5,000 feet in a Jerusalem marketplace, archaeologists found absolutely nothing, concluding that 5,000 years ago Jewish people were using wireless technology.”
