Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Shelby County v. Holder struck down a key provision of the Voting Rights Act that ensured all Americans had access to the ballot box free of past racial restrictions. It is imperative that Congress take action to repair the damage that has been done to the most important piece of civil rights legislation in modern history by supporting the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014 (H.R. 3899).
