Late last week World Compassion Network [WCN] returned from doing disaster relief work. The recent round of tornadoes that hit the Midwest included an EF-3 tornado that struck the people of Lincoln County, TN. WCN responded in a joint effort with Tim Grisham Ministries from Tipton, IN. Several days of effort included feeding victims and volunteers from local agencies and surrounding counties. Base camp for serving the volunteers was set up at Howell Hill Community Center- near one of the hardest hit areas. Many homes and nearby South Lincoln Elementary School were completely destroyed. Mayor Peggy Bevels expressed to Greg Rauen, WCN Disaster Relief Coordinator, how grateful they were that a team came from Indiana to serve them. Workers from multiple agencies including the Tennessee National Guard needed meals and refreshment to sustain them during a very intensive, several day initial clean-up effort. Because of this unmet need, we fed several hundred people up to 3 meals per day. Also, we delivered meals to workers in very remote areas who were clearing roads to give access to power company repair crews and to residents. WCN greatly appreciates the donated supplies and funds that were used during this response. We also greatly appreciate the prayers for us and for the victims of the disaster. WCN cannot do what it does without the support and encouragement from our donors. Donations so we can be ready for future disasters may be sent to WCN, P.O. Box 1152, Warsaw, IN 46581.
