Lately, my outings have been nothing close to usual; they have been outstanding! In the past two days I have caught over 40 fish while shorefishing. If you are at all into shorefishing like me, you will certainly see this as a high number! Get this- nearly all of these fish have been taken from schools in about 10fow, suspended. Personally, I think bank fishing can be even more rewarding than using electronics and fishing from a boat. (Not that I dont enjoy that.) It brings me back to my younger years and allows me to practice many techniques. Today, I focused on wind blown banks and areas of congregated baitfish. When shorefishing, start by scouting out shaded areas and follow the current. It was overcast and rainy so I threw a noisy spinnerbait with tandem willow blades. My second bait was a heavy salted, plastic worm, wacky rigged. Both of these baits seemed to do the trick as fish were feeding heavily! I suggest trying a little shorefishing from time to time- practice your skills for the big water. Biggest fish caught was around 3lb. Average fish was 1.5lb! Happy fishing!!
