Later today, the House of Representatives will vote to pass legislation funding the lifesaving research of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As a nurse for more than 40 years, I know firsthand how critical the work of the NIH is and am disappointed that, once again, Harry Reid and Senate Democrats have signaled they will refuse to consider our legislation. Today, CNN’s Dana Bash asked Senator Reid why he objected to this commonsense measure. His response was outrageous and unbefitting of the office in which he serves.
