Latest Abbey Bridge update : Viaduct 108 of the 180 number precast beams have now been placed in position. 12 of the 19 support beams have been completed The new viaduct deck will be poured in 4 sections. The first section will be poured this week. Fixing of the reinforcement for the second section has commenced. Bridge The crash deck has been completed. The existing arch has been strapped to the new arch. This has been installed to allow the future demolition of the existing arch. The demolition of the existing bridge deck has commenced. The existing road surface is being removed. The existing concrete deck will then be cut into sections and lifted out by 35t excavators South Junction Work continues on the junction to lay the traffic signal ducts There is 3 new street lighting columns left to erect. The sub contractor is working on making the electrical connections to the new street lighting columns.
