Latest Media Releases Woman injured after van crashes into house - Minto Sunday, 16 June 2013 10:20:12 AM A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a van crashed into her home at Minto overnight. Shortly after 2.30am today (Sunday 16 June 2013), a 21-year-old man, who holds a learner’s permit, was driving a Holden Commodore in Guernsey Avenue when it mounted the footpath, struck a parked van and forced it into the wall of a house. A 57-year-old woman who was asleep in the lounge room of the home was trapped by the collapsed wall. Emergency services were called to the location with the woman eventually being removed about an hour later. She was conveyed to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition and admitted to undergo further testing to determine the extent of her injuries. Police from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command established a crime scene at the location and arrested the 21-year-old driver of the Commodore and took him to the police station. The man has had his learner’s permit suspended and been released pending further inquiries. The home has been extensively damaged and will be examined by an engineer to determine the repairs required.
