Launching into the new year with Jumblies: A lot already took place last week, as our staff, artists and interns gathered back after the holidays: Jan. 7: Shifra Cooper led an experimental workshop with music and miniature objects about Jumblies Camp Naivelt project and a 2010 commissioned composition by Martin van de Ven for the Toronto Childrens Chorus. Jan. 8: Veronika Hakl, visiting from Vienna, gave a presentation about her community arts work at Stand 129, located in a Vienna marketplace. Jan. 9: Ruth and a terrific team of 6 Jumblies interns (Ange, Shifra, Mackenzie, Jackie, Julia, Catharine) led a workshop for the second year at UofTs New One: Learning without Borders Program, which was inaugurated in 2012. And we held an event for about 40 friends, colleagues and Ground Floor neighbours to celebrate our incoming and outgoing Metcalf Foundation Interns and open a retrospective Exhibition by Sonja Rainey. Now we will move ahead with our many ongoing and upcoming projects, including local workshops, city-wide mentorship and micro-grants, new musical partnerships, provincial workshops and national tours!
