In 2004 Chris Tomlin turned Lauras song Indescribable into one of the most frequently played tunes of the year. She married Martin Elvington and began working in the music and womens minstries at Perimeter Church in Atlanta in 2005. Life changed in 2006. Martin was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Post operative complications left him with serious vision and memory loss. What does a young woman who has been married two years do in this type of situation? Laura Story turned to God and began praying. She uttered every type of prayer and though she didnt always get the answers she thought she deserved, Laura felt the loving presence of God reassuring her that He would never forsake her and Martin. I do know this, says Laura in her video explanation of the song. There is a blessedness that comes through waiting on the Lord. There is an intimacy in our walk with the Lord that comes in walking through that valley. There is a reliance on His word that we only know when everything else in life fades away. So in that sense, I truly feel blessed. Blessings became her first single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart, making her one of the few female Christian artists to ever reach the top of the singles chart. The single eventually went on to win the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song.
