Lauren Shankley and Steven Chambers have shared precious memories - TopicsExpress

Lauren Shankley and Steven Chambers have shared precious memories of their son Logan in support of our Christmas Appeal. Little Logan was born with hydrocephalus and a number of other very serious conditions in December 2011. Staff at Yorkhill fought to save his life, but sadly his organs began to fail when he was just 6 days old and the heartbreaking decision was taken to remove treatment. 4 days before Christmas, Lauren and Steven held him for the first time without the barrier of the medical equipment that had been keeping him alive. He died the next morning with his parents by his side. Lauren said: “Just having that week to spend with him was indescribable. The night before he died, they took him off his ventilator. It was the first time we got to hold him properly. “It makes you realise how important that equipment is. Without the ventilator he wouldn’t have had the chance he did or that time with us.” Lauren and Steven are backing our Gift of Hope Appeal to raise money for equipment like the incubator and ventilator that treated baby Logan. Thank you.
