Lauren Shaw-->Lauren Davis 3/11/14 3:25pm Since were discussing the map of Orwells 1984, maybe we can throw in that the most likely person to come up with the phrase history is written by the winners is... George Orwell. My reference is alexpeak/twr/hiwbtw/ and I have researched this several times. I have not seen a picture of the actual article, but this is where my research led me, as best as it could in the age of the internet. The rulers are the current winners when it comes to control of the people, so the quote is more proof that the reader has to be suspicious of everything, such as the map of the world in 1984. It really makes the brain fire up some pathways, thinking about all of this. But it makes the tale told by Orwell that much more frightening when you realise how control of society can alter the truth so much. Mentioning North Korea just sends the whole concept into a level of madness that makes it wonderful to contemplate.
