Lawrence M. Grimes Feb. 15, 1919-Dec. 3, 2014 Lawrence M. Grimes, 95, of Waveland passed away at 2:18 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. He was born Feb. 15, 1919, at Crawfordsville, to James and Dora (Anderson) Grimes. On Jan. 18, 1945, he married Kathryn P. (Ferrell) Grimes. She died Oct. 20, 1990. He then married Jessie (Bass) Grimes on Jan. 2, 1994, at Dunnellon, Fla. Lawrence graduated from New Market High School. He proudly served our country as a Marine in World War II. He returned home and managed the Farm Bureau Co-op in Browns Valley and went on to open the Cherry Grove Elevator in 1968. He loved farming, woodworking and was an avid sports fan. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Browns Valley Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Jessie; his children, Jennifer (James) France of Waveland, Jessica Wunder of Waveland, Rebecca (Gary) Gentry of Brighton, Mich., and Elizabeth (Charles) Nave of Waveland; his stepchildren, Laine (Sherry) Metsker, Crawfordsville, Patrick (Susan) McCormick, Crawfordsville, Michael (Nancy) McCormick, Crawfordsville, Timothy (Cindy) McCormick, Crawfordsville, Thomas (Nita) McCormick, Advance; and together they have 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kathryn; several siblings; and son-in-law Richard Wunder. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, with Pastors Tom McCormick and David Finch officiating, as well as military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp and Post 72 V.F.W Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Friends may visit with the family 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at the funeral home.
