Laws prohibiting panhandling have been ruled unconstitutional, being called a form of free speech. Unfortunately, courts have not ruled that panhandlers must practice truth in advertising. Just remember when you see a dude on a street corner with a sign that says HOMELESS ANY HELP APPRECIATED this does not mean he is, in fact, homeless. He may have a pick up truck a half mile away in the local park-n-ride lot (hypothetically speaking). Im not encouraging anyone to shun the homeless, just be aware. Perhaps helping a homeless shelter would be more appropriate. I know of several that would appreciate the assistance.
