Layers, By South Fork Cemetery, Outside of Cody, Wyoming The clouds laid across the sky like fine soft silk cloth and then as I drew my vision back the layers of rock, snow and pine trees took on a brilliant blue hue in the midday sun. Continuing to can the landscape closer to me the steep rugged terrain revealed itself in all its beautiful harshness. Closer still the long dried grass hills provide hope for there will be plenty of food to endure the coming winter months and closer still the bare limbs reveal themselves not as a skeleton of what it was just a few months but a promise regeneration and a promise of the coming spring just a few more months away. It is hard not to smile when you look out upon a gorgeous Wyoming mountain scene but to know these layers are here for me to evaluate my self just makes the smile that more broad. To know that life is fine and we should appreciate the soft times but look across those steep and treacherous places we have had to traverse has all be worth it and I am in a place where I can winter well and await the leaves of spring to unfurl and to anticipate the sweet aroma of the spring flowers in the not so distant future. :)
