Leahs Christening This week was all about the religious cakes. A few months ago, Leahs mum came to me with a design from Couture Cupcakes and Cookies. Its very elegant and pretty. I loved making the sugar peonies and for my first attempt I was pretty happy. I even made the cross although that is non edible. When I studied the original design I wasnt sure how I would tackle the pattern on the outside at first but then decided I would do each piece individually! Yes, I made each sausage shape myself. That part alone took about 4 hours and my arms and wrists definitely felt it today! I love that I was able to try new techniques for this cake and I love the simplicity yet elegance of this cake. The cake is an 8 extended vanilla cake with raspberry swirls. It is layered with raspberry meringue buttercream and white chocolate ganache.
