Learn your history before giving your child a basket full of colorful eggs..... Hey everyone as you know it is that time again. Though it is more than necessary to recognize Christ each and every day for what he has done, Easter is the time we reflect and show how important the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ was and still is. As Christians we know how important this day really is. Without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ we all would be lost in the darkness and at the mercy of our own flesh. John 11:25-26 explains the very essence of our faith in who Jesus Christ is and why he died for our sins. To place this sacrifice in the shadows of this world is the enemy’s goal and we are his advocates if we remain silent. If we never speak and declare the real purpose of the holiday, or if we overshadow the true reason for Easter, with colorful eggs and bunnies we are destroying and crippling the souls of the unsaved and non-believer even more. By speaking up and not participating on the way the world presents this time of the year will show others that we take our true and only God serious. Our silence is just as detrimental as the demonic force behind this tradition. Jesus Christ has been too good to us and too good to this nation for us to sit back while the world plays “once upon a time” with our Lord’s day. This is not about us it is about JESUS! I pray that he has mercy on us and I also pray that he forgives me for the times I didn’t speak up and against what I know is wrong. I vow my voice be heard and it starts with just informing my family, friends, FB associates etc….Don’t let the enemy get anymore glory!! This is our time. As Christians stop letting the world steal the foundation of Christ that we stand upon just because you are scared you might offend someone! I am offended EVERYDAY on how non-believers portray our Lord. Here is a little background of what many of you have, will, or know someone who does celebrate during this time. The Easter that you see the world glorifying is that of a pagan ritual. According to pagan mythology there was a “god” of fertility by the name of Eostre. (Ishtar) Her symbol (or animal she represented herself with) was a bunny (as we all known bunnies/rabbits are known for their fertility) She was known as the god of new beginnings and she introduced the season of spring to the world. Legend says that she would bless the lands with fertility and color (spring). Now get this apparently one season Eostre was late bringing in spring. So to make up for her mistake she gave “NEW LIFE AND RESURRECTED” a bird that was dead in the snow. Not only did she give it new life but she also gave it power. She gave it power to lay beautiful colored eggs…hence why we dye eggs and give treats. I remember asking myself as kid why in the world would a giant Easter bunny hide colorful eggs for me to find? This explains it. At the end of the day the choice is yours (I am not condemning anyone).....but for me and my house our only celebration will be that of our Lord! Happy Resurrection Day!
