Learned of the passing of Fr. Bede Jagoe today. A dear friend of our departed father Tom. Bede was a man of uncommon grace and humility. An urban hermit for much of his life. And a missionary embraced by the Bedouin as a holy man. Slept in the belly of the baobob tree with the beasts of the air and ground as an equal. A quietly powerful spirit has moved to the other side. Our world is poorer for his loss but richer for his life. And while he was a catholic priest he was given up for adoption by a Jewish mother. It only made sense to him. He learned of this late in his life. He was ecumenical to his core. He and Dad are the start of a mighty prayer circle now. RIP Bede.
