Left my house today at the usual 6am...and passing 43rd & Cottage, - TopicsExpress

Left my house today at the usual 6am...and passing 43rd & Cottage, I saw rows upon rows of plows, CTA buses, garbage trucks blocking the alley ways...followed by black sedans and lines of CPD marked & unmarked cars. Barriers & fences surround a local community center like Fort Knocks....clearly something important. Being the curious individual I am, I pull up to a CPD officer walking along the street. He clearly was watching all the cars go by, so I slowed down next to him, and asked; Whats going on? This officer happened to be Caucasian American. He looks at me & smiles - and states; early voting, our President is doing his thing - are you going to vote? I smile...and I say; YES. Hes made my day. Our president, is leading by example. Our president, made two men whove never met, smile with pride. Our president transcends bonds for those whom dont hold prejudicial preconceptions. Our president wont let hate keep him from the booths, nor those protecting him, keep me away. Our President! Clearly we arent in Florida, where they redistrict so that certain people do not have the same effective voting influence. Clearly we arent in Ferguson, where this officer was interested in my well being, instead of painting me out to be a threat. Clearly, this isnt Texas or Arizona, Wisconsin or Alabama....where gerrymandering & political intimidation is as accepted as racists are. No...we are in Chicago. A city plagued with her own issues...but this officer, wasnt one of them. Nor is voting. Yes - Ill be voting. Will you? Find your spot or dont complain. cookcountyclerk/elections/earlyvoting/pages/earlyvotinglocations.aspx
