Left us on this day (Nov. 13) in 2011: Texas singer-songwriter & drummer Doyle Bramhall (heart failure, age 62), best remembered as an influential fixture of the Austin music scene since the 70s; he formed The Chessman with fellow Texan Jimmy Vaughan while still in high school - they opened for Jimi Hendrix in Dallas; in the early-70s, he formed The Nightcrawlers with Jimmys younger brother, Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar & later contributed several songs to Stevie Ray’s albums, including Dirty Pool & Life By The Drop; Stevie credited Doyle as a primary vocal influence; of his own albums, 2003′s Fitchburg Blues reached #6 on the US Blues Chart & 2007′s Is It News was Grammy-nominated; he also collaborated with Jennifer Warnes in the 90s; his son Doyle Bramhall II has carried on the family tradition…
