Legislative tax plan H.B. 998 was passed by NC State Legislature - TopicsExpress

Legislative tax plan H.B. 998 was passed by NC State Legislature and signed by Governor McCrory in July 2013. The bill requires nonprofits to start collecting and remitting sales tax on admission charges for entertainment and live events, starting on January 1, 2014. Admission charges subject to sales and use tax include museums, cultural sites, gardens, and exhibits, show, and similar attraction or a guided tour at any of these attractions. Preservation Greensboro has chosen not to increase admissions to Blandwood by the 4.75% increase, opting to absorb that cost into our organizations operating expenses. This will decrease our tour revenue, but we hope that our membership will assist us in making up the shortfall through donations. For Blandwood hours or operation, visit our website blandwood.org
