Leighton Jones, MERTHYRS WEATHERMAN, Coat on, coat off - Midweek weather, There is still potential warmth over Britain mid week, but frontal rain and cloud keeps a lid on the temperatures rising for most. In any sunny spells, it will still feel pleasantly warm, jumper on, jumper off. There is plenty of cloud over the UK this morning and weather fronts approaching from the NW. Firstly, there is patchy rain over eastern Scotland, northern England and Wales with heavier rain over the Northern Isles and NW Highlands. As another low spins away over Denmark, the strong NW winds along the North Sea coasts will reduce. The rain moves over N.Ireland this morning, then Scotland over northern England the W.Midlands and Wales by late afternoon. The rain will be heavy over Manchester and Lancs. during the afternoon. Temperatures in north areas will be 15-17C. Much of central and southern England will have a drier day with a lot of cloud and reach 16-18C, up to 20C in London. There will be some heavier bursts of rain over Wales and southwest England by evening especially into Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. So a wet end to Wednesday here. Overnight, a bit of a lull on a murky misty night feeling chilly for inland Scotland. For Thursday, Eastern Britain starts off with some brightness but a warm front will push rain over Skye in the morning, across N.Ireland and western Britain. Some heavy rain over the Great Glenn. For central, southern and eastern Britain, there will be sunny spells and it will feel warmer than Wednesday, up to 20-22C in the West or NW breeze. North Wales, northern England and Scotland turn wet and blustery overnight into Friday, as the rain runs down eastern England and the East Midlands in the small hours. This overnight rain will clear the east coast and Kent quickly on Friday morning, but leave trailing fronts for southern England across to Cornwall bringing murky outbreaks of patchy rain. For most a fairly cloudy quiet, cool day, with some brightness for N.Ireland later in the afternoon. However there could be a pocket of warmth for the SE, feeling rather humid up to 23C. For the weekend, Saturday could be very wet in the south, and then Sunday wet and windy in the north. Published on 11th September 2013 09:16 Updated: 11th September 2013 09:33
