Lenox Man Killed in Car-Bicycle Crash On Sunday June 23, Lenox Police were contacted about a missing man. Jerry Williams, 58 of Lenox, had not been seen since the previous day. A check of Williams home showed he and his bicycle were gone. With the assistance of the Taylor County Ambulance, Lenox Fire Department and members of the Lenox Public Works Department a search was conducted. At 9:40 AM Williams was found laying in a ditch on CR J-13 aprox. 1 ½ miles east of Lenox. Williams bicycle had been struck by a vehicle and he died at the scene. The Lenox Police Department, Taylor County Sheriffs Office and the Iowa State Patrol conducted an investigation at the scene. Information was obtained which led to the identification of a driver and vehicle involved in the fatal crash. The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Taylor County Sheriffs Office with assistance from the Lenox PD and the Iowa State Patrol. The name of the vehicle’s driver is not being released because the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed. Jerry was a long time employee of the City of Lenox. For those of us who knew and worked with him on a daily basis, this was a very difficult day.
