Lenses: All of Benny Loves Killing is filmed with 35mm, 50mm, - TopicsExpress

Lenses: All of Benny Loves Killing is filmed with 35mm, 50mm, and 100mm lenses, but most of what you see in the film is the 50mm and 100mm. I was watching a fair bit of GW Pabst at the time. If you check out these scenes from Diary of a Lost Girl, and keep your eyes on the background and foreground, youll notice how narrow the depth of field is: https://youtube/watch?v=y_kD98jgzjE This was the way for most films before Orson Welles turned up and popularised the use of wider lenses, and, to this day, wider lenses seem to be understood to create a more cinematic image. But wide lenses just arent for me, I seem to prefer to think and make pictures with long lenses. A lot of Antonioni does this, and Michael Mann, and the Coen brothers Millers Crossing, to give you an example.
