Leon is a small town with a population of 191,000 in Nicaragua on my path towards San Juan del Sur, my main destination in Nicaragua. I knew next to nothing about Leon before arriving. It is a small yet bustling town full of activity. I had only planned to stay in Leon for two days, which ended up being just right. As is usually the case, upon arrival I learned there is more to do and see than I was aware of. It turns out near Leon is volcano Cerro Negro. Cerro Negro is an active volcano. The last time it erupted was in 1999. What makes Cerro Negro special is not the fact that it is still active. Nor is it the fact that people are allowed to climb it. Nope, what makes this volcano special is volcano boarding down the side of it. knowmadiclife/knowmading/knowmading-nicaragua-leon
