Les Brasseries du Cameroun Begins Search For 18 Top Talents. CameroonPostline --The search for 18 young football talents for admission into Les Brasseries du Cameroun Football Academy for the 2013/2014 school year begins today, July 1, with launching matches for Les Brasseries’ Top Cup Competition. Publicity and Marketing Manager, Chi (L) poses with Top Cup Organising Committee Presidents for Limbe, Buea, Tiko and Kumba Limited to those born in the millennium year, 2000, the Regional Manager of Les Brasseries du Cameroun Agency for the Southwest in Ombe, Aurelien Onana Ndjodo, told Journalists, June 27, that the Top Cup tournament for this 2013 has been ornamented with a lot of innovations, aimed at giving the participants and all football lovers the utmost satisfaction. The Regional Manager, assisted by the Publicity and Marketing Manager for the Southwest Region, Francis Chi, was addressing reporters at a press conference that took place at the Ombe Agency. “This year is a new look Top Cup organised under the theme, ‘Come and shake the nets.” As for the Southwest, the competition shall take place in the following four towns and venues: Limbe at the Community Field; Buea at the Molyko Stadium; Tiko at the CDC Holtforth Field and Kumba at the Presbyterian School Field. While the competition in Limbe shall be handled by Les Brasseries’ Samuel Njibaloh Nji as President of the Organising Committee, Tiko shall be run by Adolphe Elongue. Leon Ntakogai shall oversee the games at the Molyko Stadium, while Nkouekam Kalexte shall coordinate the Kumba end. For kids in Mamfe, Mundemba, Bangem and other hinterland areas, Les Brasseries officials urged them to come to Kumba or the other three towns and register. The Regional Manager, Onana, and Chi reaffirmed their company’s drive, which they said was simply to give the youths an opportunity to discover their talents in football so that the lucky 18 can have that opportunity to further their training at the Les Brasseries Football Academy in Douala for the next school year. They allayed fears of parents who might be a little reticent to let off their kids on grounds that the Academy might be offering just training skills in football. “Les Brasseries Football School, today, is an all round educational centre where, besides football, the kids are given the opportunity to learn other subjects just like other students,” Chi said. He added that Les Brasseries was aware that besides playing football, the kids need lessons in other subjects because they might quit the school and decide to pursue their careers in fields other than football.Eto’o Is Les Brasseries Product Meanwhile, journalists were informed about some of the outstanding products that have gone through the Les Brasseries Academy and are plying their trade today on several green turfs around the world. “The likes of Eto’o Fils, Rigobert Song Bahanag, Salomon Olembe, Geremi Njitap all graduated from the Les Brasseries Football Academy,” Chi said. He, nevertheless, said that not all their trainees were abroad because many of the players in most of the elite I, II and III clubs in Cameroon today are products from the Les Brasseries Academy. “There are no two ways to go to the Les Brasseries Football School. It is only through the Top Cup selection,” Chi said. They reiterated that registration for the tournament was free, except for the fact that any interested lad with some talent in the game must come with a birth certificate, school ID, a medical certificate of fitness and an authorisation letter from the parents or guardians allowing him to partake of the tournament. Les Brasseries officials disclosed that the selection of players for the tournament that runs from Monday, July 1 to Saturday, July 27, was being done by Divisional Delegations of Sports and Physical Education. Top is one of the most outstanding brands of Les Brasseries and is produced in several brand names as Top Pamplemouse, Top Anana, Top Grenadine, Top Citron, Top Orange and Top Tonic. The Regional Manager said while the competition shall be going on, customers of Les Brasseries shall also have the opportunity to enjoy all their Top brands and especially the 35cl bottle of Top now sold at a more affordable price of FCFA 250. “By drinking Top, we are made to stay on top. Top has all it takes to make one a good sport man or footballer,” Onana intimated. The Regional Manager said one of the aims of the competition is to revive the lost glory of Cameroon’s football, reason why Les Brasseries has totally given up the responsibility of those to select the final 18 to an independent jury that shall be composed of coaches and footballers.
