* Lesle Lewis Says about makeing Journey Of Pal with Krishna Kumar Kunnath [K.K] Got a call from Hariharan about a young boy who he felt sang well…So asked me if he should send himover… That was the first time I met KK. Looking great with a long mane of hair and a fab voice to go with the look! He shared that he had a dream to record an album with me but no such luck… He was just a young singer who was trying to make it and hadn’t become ‘KK‘ as he’s known today. So I got him to sing jingles for me and he persevered…Kept asking me…Finally I made a few copies of the jingles he had sung for me and took them to Sony Music. They loved his voice but decided against making his album… Unless I did it! I was really busy then post ‘ Colonial Cousins’ and ‘Rahul & I’ with Asha Bhosle. There was just no time to do an album, especially for a young, unknown but really talented singer. I requested Sony again as I genuinely believed he was very talented and was hoping he would get a break..But they stuck to their guns.. When I told him about it, he was very depressed! So I decided I would take time out and do his album…and what a big smile I saw on KK‘s face!! Hooked him up with Sony Music and the rest, as they say, is history..Yaron Dosti - Pal - Aap Ki Duaa..I had to tone down the strong ‘Rock’ element in the songs as India seemed not yet ready for such a strong sound..I decided to keep it soft rock.. It’s only when the movie ‘ Rock On’ happened that India scaled up its rock sound sensibilities… Since then,KK has gone on a fabulous journey singing his heart out in Bollywood. But the songs onthat first album still stand out,a KK from the heart ..
