Lesson 3 : We Are A Conditioned People 1. We are a conditioned people. Great many things surrounding us everyday have influenced us in a subtle manner. Those daily exposure, little by little, has conditioned us, entered our subconscious mind without us noticing. Not many of us are aware that we are more affected by consistent and small doses of influence, rather than large yet one-off influence. Thus watch and understand what you do everyday, who you hang out with everyday, what they are teaching you in school or what values your parents are teaching you. Thus, we are all conditioned by our family, my school, close friends, and spouses. Society expects conformity and it tries to achieve it through education, propagation, etc. Do not fall in line just because they want you to. Look at yourself in the mirror and decide what you want, what you believe in, who you are. 2. Don’t let past experience rule our lives. Furthermore, we are affected by our experiences: our failure and our success. We are encouraged by our success and discouraged by our failure, yet we learn so much more when we fail. We remember our failure and our success even more. But we forgot one important thing: This too shall pass. Allow me to quote The greatest Salesman in the world: “For all worldly things shall indeed pass. When I am heavy with heartache I shall console myself that this too shall pass; when I am puffed with suc- cess I shall warn myself that this too shall pass. When I am strangled in poverty I shall tell myself that this too shall pass; when I am burdened with wealth I shall tell myself that this too shall pass. Yea, verily, where is he who built the pyramid? Is he not buried within its stone? And will the pyra- mid, one day, not also be buried under sand? If all things shall pass why should I be of concern for today?” We should not focus on the past. We should live in the moment without fear from past experience. We must break free from that. You fail once, it does not mean you will fail again. You succeed once, it does not mean you will succeed again. What is done is done. Believe in yourself and do what love and believe. Safe choices are not the way to live. https://youtube/watch?v=2vj-ZmYTGAw
