Lesson One: Almost dying is worse than dying During the summer of 2010 I almost died. Well to be honest I was almost murdered. At the time I was home sleeping during the day taking a nap. I was awoken by the sound of loud voices and a gun to my face. I was told to get down on the floor face down. The mattress was flipped on top of me and i waited for the gunshot…… but it never came! The mattress was lifted and I laid there motionless…until one of the masked men asked “where’s the money!!???" I told him “there is no money here!…" He told me “if you are lying, I will kill you"…I waited for the gunshot….but it never came! As I laid there I heard more people come in as they unzipped bags and began to take my flat screen tv, PlayStation 3, and stereo equipment. I spent the next five minutes saying nothing…but praying to God that if they do take me to be sure anyone who loves me is able to get through the pain and know I love them very much. I told God to say goodbye for me. I sat there waiting for the final moments of my life to show up…but they never came! As I lay here in my death bed reflecting on life i must confess that almost dying is worse then dying. I learned so much about my self on that day. I learned that God has a shield over me. If i can survive that I can survive anything. I learned to say what I feel when i feel it because it may be my last opportunity. I also learned that I still have a reason for being on this earth. I still have a life to change. I still have a lesson to teach. So as you hold my hand on this death bed, I feel it is my duty to tell you that it’s ok to almost die as long you live on after. On that day I was murdered but I didn’t die. That moment of fear allows me to fear nothing. Fear no one. speak out against anything. and laugh at everything.
