Lesson number one: It was little more than a cave, a windbreak - TopicsExpress

Lesson number one: It was little more than a cave, a windbreak that sheltered stock animals. It smelled of their fouling and filth was everywhere. He was a man of order, an artesian, who believed that things were supposed to be certain ways. This was all he had at the time, and there was no more time. He had to get busy and do what he could. Quickly setting about, moving things around, using loose straw as a broom, he cleared a space for the arrival. And feeling that he had not done enough, he knew he had done all he could. He had done his best with what was given him. He looked into the pure face of his wife, a young woman whose eyes showed trust and love. He had never seen such beauty. She nodded allowed the arrival of the King of Kings. A boy-child that was so small and helpless. He heard his Child’s first sounds and it filled his heart. Wrapping the Child in a cloth, he laid Him beside his mother’s breast and she nourished both Him and the World. Catching movement out of the corner of his eye, he turned and fearing a predator that might try and make a meal of the new arrival, he caught glimpse of a young lad who had been watching. He and the boy’s eye’s eye met and there was an understanding. Both had been told, in advance of the arrival, and it’s significance. The boy, a shepherd, without saying a word, went about clearing and cleaning. Knowing animals as he did, he was surprised that even they were orderly and neat. The man moved beside his new family and rededicated himself to his new life. The boy, like all those in the rest of the world, now and forever, had also been changed. SAVED. Too often we forget that God does things for multiple reasons. The birth of Christ is a wondrous event, profound and world changing. But is that all? (Not trying to sound factious in any way). Christ’s birth, addressed not only our salvation but one of our biggest fears; personal rejection. We all have had a time in our lives when we feel without hope, without help, and up totally against insurmountable odds. This was Joseph’s lot that night. He must have felt, at one time or another like we do when things build up. Joseph was faithful. God is faithful. Our first lesson from Christ, the day he was born. The Teacher, never stops teaching. CHRIST IS BORN. PRAISE GOD.
