Lessons from todays Halaqah: Shaitaans mission is to mislead - TopicsExpress

Lessons from todays Halaqah: Shaitaans mission is to mislead mankind, diverting them from the path of Allah. When it fails to mislead, it resorts to influencing the believers in committing actions which would nullify their good deeds for e.g. a daee who then begins to feel arrogant. Our hearts are fragile and if we do not protect ourselves, busy ourselves in the rememberance of Allah then shaitaan can easily enter our hearts. It can do this is in several ways: 1) Making you compare your situation with others for eg. You applied for the same uni as your friend but they were accepted and you werent. Constantly pondering over the bad things that happen to you and then comparing it to others can lead to disappointment with Qadr, lack of faith/trust in Allah causing you to break the connection with your Lord. 2) Making the dunya seem appealing- making the haraam easier; justifying the action of your whims and desires outside of Islam (remember: Islam does not disregard desires, it disciplines them) 3) Ar-riyya (showing off)- for eg. Donating to a charity organisation/or doing a good deed then boasting about it. The way Allah asks you to conceal your bad deeds/sins in return for concealment on the yawm al qiyamah, the same way He asks us to conceal our good deeds for these are done sincerely for His sake in return for Jannah. 4) Shaitaan can also lead you into various extremities. Ibn Qayyum RA mentions that Shaitaan can make a laid back person believe they have done enough and those who are firm (already practicing), into believing they should strive harder above what is fard and sunnah.
