Let Nigerian Legislators, both at Federal and State levels, enact laws to regulate the indiscriminate award of chieftaincy titles, honourary doctorate degrees, etc, political office holders by sycophants. It engenders corruption and looting of public funds to buy titles. Average Nigerian politician, craves for titles to psyche up that inferiority complex. They use acquisition of countless number of titles here and there, to confuse and deceive the public; on their poor performance in office. Political office holder shouldn’t be assessed by multitude of unmerited titles he has bought. Rather, it should be based on visible achievements. Prompt payment of workers and pensioners, completion of projects, and reopening of moribund industries, should be the major criteria, for evaluation. They should pay up multitude of people they owe, before seeking re-election! Their regalia and massive rigging of elections, will no longer save them.
